About Grow Garden County
Grow Garden County is a movement or common effort of nine entities in Garden County – Garden County, City of Oshkosh, Village of Lewellen, Garden County Schools, Garden County Health Services, Volunteers of America, Turner Board, Chamber of Commerce and the Garden County Community Foundation – through an inter-local agreement. The focus of this community/county-wide effort is to build a stronger economy, maintain or increase our population and revitalize the area. Grow Garden County sees the county as our community, and is based on the expectation of a positive future for the county and the knowledge that Garden County is a great place to live.
The work of Grow Garden County includes:
- Bringing youth home through a variety of initiatives
- Promoting tourism activities
- Creating links to regional, state and national resources
- Obtaining grant funds to enable local efforts
- Creating connections through innovative technology
- Strengthening and building community
Garden County will be 100 years old in 2010. People are becoming involved in promoting the county and celebrating the centennial. We also want to look to the future and decide where we are going. What kind of community do we want to create? What does a small, rural and vibrant community look like? The answer lies in the belief, words and effort of people who are committed to Garden County.
